Pantone's Color of the Year: a 2024 Report So Far
At the end of December 2023, Pantone, the fashion color entity, ruled that the color for this year would be "Peach Fuzz" (13-1023). Let's recap how we've seen it implemented in weddings and bridal events, and how we feel.
The company describes the velvet peach tone as "a "heartfelt peach hue" that conveys a message of caring, sharing, community, and collaboration." Pantone's color of the year selection sets the standard for industries such as fashion, interiors, and packaging design, so this proclaimed color is one we've seen worked into events as both a main feature and an accent color.
Because peach is a pastel hue by nature, it pairs well with other pastel shades, such as lavender, mint, pale blue, or light pink. These combinations create delicate, light, and harmonious looks, and look beautiful in a palette for a summer or spring wedding. Lighter colors pair beautifully with an outdoor ceremony or reception, and provide a soft and romantic feel to any setting. See a Bella Rose style shoot pictured below!
However, just because peach looks beautiful on a pastel color palette does not mean it won't work for fall or winter settings as well! It can be paired with deeper browns or neutral colors, and goes beautifully with deeper shades of red, purple, green, or black and white. Due to color theory, the complimentary color to peach is blue..
This means that whether you do a lighter blue pairing as pictured above, or utilize deep teal or navy tones, peach is a beautiful pop of color for a darker palette or a cooler season. See a Bella Rose Bride and her bouquet pictured below as an example!
Pantone's color forecast for spring and summer 2025 includes marbled whites and grays, savannah greens and browns, watery blues, classic neutrals, and backlit brights. The colors are said to reflect a new consciousness that embodies symbiotic relationships between humanity, fauna, and the planet.
Their color trend predictions for autumn and winter 2024/2025 include Moonstruck, a shadowy gray hue, Winter Sky, a cooling blue hue, White Swan, a soft and downy white, Raw Umber, a grounded brown, Dark Gull Gray, a solid and dense gray, Baritone Blue, a deep blue hue, and Buckthorn Brown, a sturdy golden brown.
